Food Ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) is an annual international standard food and beverage raw material exhibition. This year, Indonesia will host the 2018 Fi Asia which will take place on October, 3rd – 5th , 2018 at JiExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. t least 750 companies from 60 countries and more than 20,000 food and beverage industry professionals participated in this exhibition.KARA as one of the players in the food and beverage industry was also present at Fi Asia 2018 with the aim of providing education about the goodness of coconut and introducing quality coconut processed products. In addition, KARA through KARA Island also presents a variety of the latest innovative coconut products, such as Coconut Ice Cream, Coconut Cookies, Coconut Bread Loaf, Coconut Chewy, Almond Bar and 100% Indonesian Coconut Water.

Coconut Industry, Great Potential of the Nation’s Economy

Indonesia has enormous potential in coconut industry. Its potential could improve the nation’s economy if we optimal it. Until this day, there are 95 coconut-producing district in Indonesia and each area has more than 10,000 hectares, with the number of farmers more than 2 million people. That export was recorded at USD 510.14 million in 2010. And it increase twice to USD 1.21 billion in 2014. In 2014, Indonesia’s contribution reached 20.16 percent of the total world export value. Based on data from the Himpunan Industri Pengolahan Kelapa Indonesia (HIPKI), the total national demand for coconut in 2015 was 14.63 billion coconuts or worth USD 3.53 billion.

General Chairman of Ketua Umum Himpunan Kerukunan Tani Indonesia (HKTI) Jenderal TNI (Pum) Moeldoko hopes that the government will strengthen the coconut farming sector. According to him, Indonesia has enormous potential in the coconut industry to boost the economy. It is recorded that there are 95 districts in Indonesia that produce coconuts with a coconut plantation area of more than 1 hectare (ha). Coconut farmers in Indonesia reach 2 million people with a composition of 93.93 percent being small farmers. Meanwhile, Indonesia has around 3.5 million ha of coconuts, but the total coconut production is still low.
