Sambu Group, a Domestic Investment (PMDN) company that has long grown and flourished in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Through its subsidiary, PT Riau Sakti United Plantations (RSUP), Sambu Group completed the construction of a 3,800-meter embankment in Parit Peralin Jaya, Penjuru Village, Kateman District. The project was officially handed over to the village government and the community on January 10, 2026.
The construction of this embankment is a testament to the company's concern for environmental resilience and the safety of communities surrounding its operational areas. Parit Peralin Jaya serves as a vital waterway for the people of Penjuru Village. Therefore, reinforcing the embankment is a strategic step to mitigate the risks of flooding, erosion, and other environmental impacts that could potentially disrupt the social and economic activities of the residents.

Furthermore, the embankment plays a crucial role in protecting the coconut plantations of Penjuru Village residents. Improved water management stability helps prevent prolonged waterlogging and saltwater intrusion, which can damage coconut trees. Consequently, local coconut farmers can carry out their agricultural activities more safely and productively, while preserving the coconut ecosystem that serves as the foundation of the local economy and a vital part of the coconut supply chain in Indragiri Hilir.
Salehudin, the Head of Penjuru Village, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to PT RSUP and Sambu Group for their tangible contribution. He noted that the program significantly helps the villagers face long-standing environmental challenges.
"The construction of this embankment is very beneficial for the people of Penjuru Village. Besides reducing flood risks, it provides a sense of security for residents living near the canal and supports the continuity of agricultural and economic activities, including the farmers' coconut groves. We appreciate the care shown by PT RSUP and Sambu Group, who continue to contribute to our village," said Salehudin.
A. Ginting, Public Relations for Sambu Group, explained that the construction and handover of the embankment are part of the company's long-term commitment to sustainable social and environmental responsibility. According to him, as a domestic company operating in the coconut-based industry, Sambu Group believes that business success must go hand-in-hand with community welfare and the preservation of the coconut ecosystem.
"Through our CSR programs, Sambu Group strives to provide real solutions relevant to the community's needs. The embankment in Penjuru Village, handed over on January 10, 2026, is the result of synergy with the village government and local community to protect the environment, support coconut farmers, and ensure the sustainability of the coconut ecosystem in Indragiri Hilir," explained A. Ginting.
With the completion and handover of the 3,800-meter embankment at Parit Peralin Jaya, it is hoped that the environmental resilience of Penjuru Village will be strengthened, local coconut plantations will remain protected, disaster risks will be minimized, and a harmonious, sustainable relationship between the company and the community will be maintained.
