In the spirit of sharing Ramadan blessings while strengthening ties with the community, Sambu Group, through its business unit PT Riau Sakti United Plantations (RSUP) and the Bahtera Dwipa Abadi Foundation (YBDA), held a series of ifthar (breaking of the fast) events with orphans, the underprivileged, and community organizations in the Pulau Burung region. These activities are part of an effort to reinforce social care values and foster a spirit of togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the theme “With the Community, Celebrating the Goodness of Ramadan,” the program consisted of two main events involving the local community. The first agenda was an ifthar gathering with orphans and the underprivileged held at the Nurul Muslimin Mosque, Sungai Perpat, Teluk Nibung Village. This event was successfully carried out with the support of the Nurul Muslimin Mosque Youth as a community partner.
A total of 56 orphans attended the event. Beyond enjoying the communal atmosphere of Ramadan, they experienced firsthand the care and attention from the various parties involved. The program featured congregational prayers and a Ramadan tausiyah (religious lecture), highlighting the importance of compassion, brotherhood, and the spirit of sharing within society.
In addition to the event for orphans, PT RSUP and YBDA also organized an ifthar with various community organizations (ormas) at the Jami Al-Istiqomah Mosque, KM 00, Pulau Burung. This session was held in collaboration with the Pulau Burung Scout Movement as the organizing partner. Representatives from 15 community organizations across various local groups in the Pulau Burung District, Indragiri Hilir, Riau, were in attendance. The presence of these diverse organizations served as a powerful symbol of unity and collaboration in building harmonious social relations.
Andy Ferrial, Public Relations of PT Riau Sakti United Plantations, explained that Ramadan is the perfect momentum to strengthen silaturahmi (social bonds) and cultivate a spirit of giving.
"Ramadan is an ideal time to strengthen ties and nurture the spirit of sharing. Through these communal breaking-of-the-fast events, we want to share the happiness and blessings of Ramadan with orphans, the community, and the various organizations that have long been an integral part of the social environment in Pulau Burung," said Andy.
Andy added that involving various communities serves as a means to strengthen the relationship between the company and the public. He emphasized that strong synergy between the company, community organizations, and social institutions is crucial for creating a harmonious and mutually supportive social environment.
Appreciation for the initiative was also expressed by the Head of Pulau Burung District (Camat), Razali, S.E. > "We highly appreciate PT RSUP’s initiative in consistently providing social programs for the community, especially during this blessed month of Ramadan. Activities like this not only bring joy to orphans and the public but also reinforce the spirit of togetherness and gotong royong (mutual cooperation) among the people of Pulau Burung," Razali remarked.
Through these ifthar events, PT RSUP and YBDA hope that the spirit of sharing and togetherness grown during Ramadan will continue to flourish. The company remains committed to standing with the community through various social activities that provide tangible benefits to the surrounding environment while upholding the values of collaboration and social connection.
