SD 04 Sungai Laut Village, Tanah Merah Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency, which was previously reported to have alarming building conditions, has received special attention from the SAMBU Group. Through PT Pulau Sambu in Kuala Enok, this Domestic Investment Company (PMDN) provided assistance through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This aid addresses the urgent need for decent classrooms, allowing students to continue learning in safer and more conducive conditions amidst the limited infrastructure that the school has been facing.
Soharto, the Principal of SD 04 Sungai Laut Village, expressed his deep appreciation for the concern. “We are very grateful for this temporary school aid. For a long time, the lack of learning spaces has been a major challenge for the education process at our school. The presence of this facility is a breath of fresh air for us, the teachers, and especially the students,” said Soharto. He also added that previously, some classrooms had to be used alternately, meaning not all students could learn in an ideal atmosphere. Currently, the construction of the temporary school is underway, carried out in cooperation with the local government and the community who are participating in mutual cooperation. The construction is targeted to be completed by the end of December 2025 so that it can be immediately used to support more comfortable and effective learning. Besides classrooms, other supporting facilities are also being prepared to support a more organized teaching and learning process.
“Every child has the same right to a proper and safe education. With the support from PT Pulau Sambu, our hope is growing to shape a superior generation in the future. Once completed, this facility will be handed over to the Education Office to be utilized optimally for the sustainability of education in our village. Hopefully, the blessings of this aid can be felt by all students and the community,” he concluded. Soharto then expressed his hope that the presence of this temporary school could be the first step towards improving the quality of education and building permanent infrastructure in the future.
