In commemoration of its 58th Anniversary, Sambu Group held an Inter-Business Unit Badminton Tournament which took place from October 6–12, 2025, at the PT Pulau Sambu Sports Hall (GOR) in Kuala Enok. This annual sports event serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie and build a spirit of sportsmanship among employees across the various companies that make up the Sambu Group.
The tournament was participated in by internal athletes from various business units and affiliates of the Sambu Group and its Foundation. The matches were festive and full of enthusiasm, marked by support from colleagues and the extended Sambu Group family who packed the GOR area every day. According to Dwianto Arif, Corporate Communication Manager of Sambu Group, this sports activity is a form of company appreciation for the employees' spirit and togetherness.
"This 58th Anniversary celebration is not just a moment of commemoration, but also an opportunity to strengthen the sense of brotherhood among employees. Through sports like badminton, we learn about teamwork, fighting spirit, and sportsmanship, which reflect the values of the Sambu Group," said Dwianto Arif. Over the seven days of the event, participants showcased their best abilities in the two contested categories: Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles. The competition was tight, with many exciting, adrenaline-pumping matches for the spectators.
In the Women's Doubles category, the First Place was successfully clinched by the pair Irtanti Lolita and Shinta Dewi from PT Riau Sakti United Plantation Industrial Division Team A. Meanwhile, Second Place was secured by Suniati and Jumania from PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung Team A, followed by Febriana Dera and Afrriana from PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung Team B in Third Place.
The Fourth Place was taken by the pair Wirda Yanti and Friska Vera Sontaria from PT Riau Sakti Transmandiri. As for the Men's Doubles category, the pair Budi Priyatno and Juni Syafriandi from PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung Team A performed brilliantly and successfully won First Place.
Second Place was taken by the pair Aldino Agustian and Rio Hidayat from PT Riau Sakti United Plantations Industrial Division Team C, followed by Ramadhan and Prayoga Piyo Pratama from PT Pulau Sambu in Kuala Enok Team B as Third Place, and Joapridiansah and Andi Yansyah from PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung Team C who won Fourth Place.
All matches were led by professional referees from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) of Indragiri Hilir Regency, namely Julfitri and Ahmad Tarmizi, ensuring the tournament proceeded in an orderly, sportsmanlike manner, and in accordance with official match standards. As a form of appreciation, the winners received cash prizes and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, as well as additional cash for 4th Place in each category.
This badminton tournament is not only a competitive event but also a symbol of the spirit of "Unite, Work, and Achieve" (Bersatu, Berkarya, dan Berprestasi) which has been the essence of the Sambu Group for 58 years of working in the national coconut industry. Through this activity, Sambu Group continues to show its commitment to building a healthy, harmonious, collaborative, and achievement-oriented company culture.
