Sambu Group, a Domestic Investment Company (PMDN), through one of its business units, PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung, once again demonstrated its commitment through a mass circumcision event organized by the Penjuru Village Government on Sunday, June 29, 2025. The event was held at the Penjuru Village Office. Initiated by the Penjuru Village Government, the activity was fully supported by Yayasan Bahtera Dwipa Abadi (YBDA) as the event facilitator and PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung as the main partner and donor for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Medical services were handled by a combined team of medical personnel from the PT Pulau Sambu Clinic and the Penjuru Village Health Sub-Center team.
The mass circumcision event was attended by 38 participants from two areas: Penjuru Village and Kuala Selat Village. Keeping its main theme, "Healthy for All, Strong Together," the theme was designed to emphasize the crucial importance of equitable access to healthcare services as a solid foundation for building a community that is not only physically healthy but also resilient, empowered, and has a strong spirit of mutual support. Several community leaders were also present, including the Secretary of Kataman Sub-district, the Secretary of Penjuru Village, the Secretary of Kuala Selat Village, Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Police Officer), Head of PMD Section, representatives from the Health Center, Karang Taruna (Youth Organization), and other community figures.
From a religious perspective, circumcision or khitan is a part of religious law and is obligatory for male children. The function of circumcision is to facilitate and accelerate the process of physical cleansing as one of the requirements for the validity of worship.
Medically, circumcision has a very important benefit: to remove parts of the body that can harbor dirt, viruses, bacteria, and other things that can endanger health. It is hoped that this mass circumcision event can help realize a healthy younger generation.
Circumcision can sometimes still be an expensive ritual for some community groups, especially for those less fortunate. However, it is the parents' responsibility to guide their children into adulthood with a foundation of piety. The mass circumcision event is expected to help and benefit those in need.
