Sambu Group, a domestic investment company (PMDN) through its business unit, PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung, commemorated World Environment Day 2025 by holding a series of activities. The activities were carried out in three phases. The first phase, titled "School Less Waste," was held at Dwipa Abadi School in Air Tawar Village, Kateman District, Indragiri Hilir, Riau. This activity aimed to instill an environmentally friendly culture and reduce waste in the school environment. Involving the entire Dwipa Abadi School community, the initiative was determined to help create a healthy, clean, and sustainable environment from an early age.

The second phase was scheduled to coincide with World Environment Day, June 5, 2025, with the planting of mangrove seedlings on the coast of Air Tawar Village, Kateman District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau. This activity carried the theme "Plant Mangroves Today, Protect Coasts Tomorrow." A total of 1,400 Avicennia mangrove seedlings were successfully planted together with more than 200 enthusiastic participants who directly took part in the coastal greening effort.

"This mangrove planting activity is a concrete manifestation of our commitment to preserving the environment, especially the coastal ecosystem. Mangroves have many crucial benefits for protecting coastal areas from beach erosion, preventing saltwater intrusion, maintaining diverse wildlife habitats, and supporting the lives of surrounding communities," said Dwianto Arif, Corporate Communication Manager of Sambu Group.

According to Dwianto Arif, this activity is also in line with the environmental sustainability pillar consistently upheld by Sambu Group in its operations. "We hope this initiative can inspire many parties to collectively preserve the environment, especially in Indragiri Hilir," he added.

Lettu Inf. Delmy Armansyah, Danramil 06 Kateman, who also attended the event, expressed high appreciation for PT Pulau Sambu in Guntung's concern for environmental sustainability. "We fully support concrete actions like this. Mangrove trees can reduce the risk of flooding. Their strong root systems can help dampen ocean waves, thereby reducing damage from tidal floods. In the long term, this mangrove planting will provide a sense of security and comfort to residents from the threat of disaster," he stated.

The series of activities continued into the third phase, which was held on June 10, 2025, at the Air Tawar Village Office. In this phase, the theme was "Green at Home," focusing on household waste management education. During this activity, the community received practical training on how to make compost and Eco-Enzyme independently, as an effort to reduce household waste volume while utilizing organic waste into useful products. "We want the community to have greater awareness in managing household waste in a more environmentally friendly way. With the composting and Eco-Enzyme demonstrations, it is hoped that the community can directly practice them at home accurately," explained Dwianto Arif.

Through these three activities, Sambu Group reaffirms its commitment to supporting the global environmental agenda while improving the quality of life for communities around the company's operational area. "The environment is a precious heritage that must be protected together. Happy World Environment Day, may the collaboration between companies, government, and the community be very important for realizing a sustainable future!" concluded Dwianto Arif.
